I agree with [James] Carville on diversity. It\u2019s a strength. And I\u2019m fine with inclusion. I think everybody should have an equal pathway to pursue happiness,\u201d the former Fox News host told media personality Steve Bannon on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/politics\/trump-100-days-cuomo-townhall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NewsNation<\/a> on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hate equity because equity then favors one group or gender over another,\u201d O\u2019Reilly continued.<\/p>\n<p>The conversation took place during <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5276553-trump-newsnation-town-hall-100-days\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a NewsNation town hall<\/a> on President Trump\u2019s first 100 days of his second term. The president called in for an interview, and the media personalities held a discussion afterward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump, the president, was very clear on NewsNation tonight that he does not want that,\u201d O\u2019Reilly said, referring to the push for equity. \u201cThat if you are going to be admitted to a school or be accepted for a job, you do it on merit, not on gender or skin color.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration has taken numerous steps to push schools to drop DEI efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The Education Department <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/education\/5275776-trump-administration-school-mental-health-funding-over-dei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced on Wednesday<\/a> it would cut $1 billion in mental health funding for schools because of DEI concerns. The move comes as the department has already cut millions in education research funding over alleged DEI efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the town hall on Wednesday, Trump said historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) have nothing to fear amid his administration\u2019s pressure campaign against higher education institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether HBCUs should be concerned about the administration\u2019s cuts, Trump said \u201cnot at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd let me just tell you, I\u2019m glad you brought up historically Black colleges and universities. I saved them \u2026 they were going out of business.
